They may “just be things”, but…

It’s like saying goodbye to pieces of myself and the only life I’ve known.

If I lose my house, I will become officially homeless.
If I lose family heirlooms, the connection to those memories will be lost.
If I lose my personal belongings, it will erase months or years of work that I invested in material things.
At times of crisis and war, everybody understands that life matters more than any material things, but it still hurts so badly when you think about losing everything.

The things that you have are the gift of God.
When God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 5:19

Justice and Provision

God has given freedom of choice to every person. Some people misuse it to hurt, destroy, and steal.
God is not blind to such violence and destruction.
He is just, and he will judge everyone according to their choices.
God promises to take care of those who are in need, who call upon him.
You are valuable to God and he loves you as a Father loves his children.

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6: 26, 31, 33

Talk to the Father

Your Heavenly Father is aware of everything that you need, and he also has the power to provide it. No matter how much you lose, he will take care of you if you will trust him and live for him.

If you are afraid of losing everything, pray this prayer.
Dear God,
Thank you for giving me so many things that I love in my life. I understand that all I have is your gift. Please, protect what I still have. And provide for my needs, so I can see that you take care of me and my family. Help me to trust you and appreciate your gifts.
