If you look into the heartbreak behind the latest headlines, or even your own life

There must be someone responsible.

It is people who cause pain for other people.

What if blaming a person is like looking only at a symptom rather than the core disease?

Is it possible that beneath the pain there is a deeper cause?

Is it possible that what we see today—the hurt, the hatred, the death, the struggle—is all a part of a longstanding war that evil has been raging against what God created as good?
God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.
Genesis 1:31

Good or Evil

God created man and woman and there was no pain or death.
The first humans gave in to the temptation of Satan, the deceiver of the whole world.
Revelation 12:9
They acted in rebellion to God instead of trusting their Creator. This caused evil, pain and death to enter the world.
Genesis 3:1-7
Every subsequent person has also sinned.
Ephesians 2:3; Romans 5:12
But God did not leave us a prisoner of our sin. He sent Jesus Christ to defeat sin and death and restore us to God.

For if the many died by the trespass of the one man (Adam), how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
Romans 5:15

So what does it all mean?

To say that bad people cause our pain is to simplify the problem. If we examine ourselves closely and honestly, we will realize that even if we consider ourselves to be good people we have also contributed to the pain experienced by ourselves and those around us.

But what if God had already launched a plan to replace suffering with joy and to defeat death and establish life forever? Wouldn’t you want to at least learn God’s plan? Only in Jesus is there a promise of ultimate freedom from the painful consequences of our sin.
